Hello Hello Hello!! Tomorrow, on Saturday, September 1st, I will embark on my journey for the fall semester. This adventure will bring me to India, Nepal, and Tibet. My name is Rob Hasson and I'm a Junior at Saint Michael's College. I wanted to start this blog the night before I leave so that I could vent some important feelings:
I'm scared. I'm nervous about leaving my home and my comfort zone for so long. Having been to the third world before, I have an idea of what lies ahead, but I have never been away from home this long before. Along with being scared, nervous, and anxious, I'm also very excited t go. I have wanted to visit this area of the world since I was 6 or 7 years old. I was given a picture book from my parents depicting the first ascent of Everest. I've wanted to visit the Himalayas ever since that day.
While this trip won't bring me very close to Everest, it will allow me to meet the people of this part of the world and I will be able to better understand their history, culture, and day to day life. The main purpose behind this trip is to learn (it being a study abroad program) but as always, I will try to help out any way I can- anyone, anywhere, anytime.
I am going to try to keep up with this blog as often as possible. Throughout the semester, there will be times that I have internet everyday, but there will also be times when I don't see the internet for close to a month. Please be patient in the blog entries. Thanks for joining me in this incredible adventure.
Peace,
Rob Hasson

Bert,
I am so excited, yet nervous for you at the same time. I cannot wait until you are home telling of the wondrous stories. Have a great time, take lots of pictures, learn a ton, but most of all stay safe. I love you TONS. Call me as soon as you can. Love,
Megs

Rob - thanks for sharing your travels with all of us - after having had you in class and after our many discussions I look forward to your observations. I would have been concerned if you were NOT nervous - what a wonderful opportunity for you and for those of us who are fortunate enough to have access to your blogs. I hope that it is alright that I may occasionally "share" your blogs with class. Take good care.

What an awesome opportunity. As I work around the yard, hopefully without a cigarette in my mouth, I’ll be thinking, “What is Rob doing right now?” Take advantage of this opportunity to the fullest; learn, make friends, and enjoy.
Hi, Rob,
I am so excited for you. What an unbelievable opportunity of a lifetime. You are going to have so much fun, learn so much and I know you will be a friend to whoever comes in contact with you. I am praying for you that you have a safe journey and you will be back before you know it sharing all of your experiences with us. Take Care Rob, Love, YaYa Carlene
